I also enjoyed the psychological aspect of the story with the characters’ motivations. They had a symbiotic relationship that worked until it didn’t. I love the dynamic between the characters. I never read or watched the original Frankenstein so I have nothing to compare to, but I enjoyed the author’s take on the story even though it was a little slow in the beginning and a little predictable. His determination paired with volatility made up an calm yet explosive personality. His solitary nature was anything but serene. “You are mine, Elizabeth Lavenza, and nothing will take you from me. She knew what she wanted and she worked for it by any means necessary. They had saved me from poverty and, in the same stroke, doomed me to utter dependence.Įlizabeth might not be a character that everyone would like but I love her. But her security could mean a destruction of everything else she held dear. When she was taken in by the Frankensteins to befriend their reclusive son Victor, she was determined to keep her place in the family.
